Rental Requirements
Tigertail Rentals is built for properly insured drivers and businesses. Here's what you need to qualify for our service.
We verify your coverage upfront so everything is clear before you drive.
1. Who We Rent To
Insured drivers age 25+ with a valid U.S. driver's license
All primary drivers must be at least 25 years old and hold a current U.S. driver's license in good standing.
Individuals with full-coverage auto insurance
Your personal auto policy must include liability, comprehensive, and collision coverage that extends to rented or temporary vehicles.
Businesses with commercial auto or Hired & Non-Owned Auto (HNOA) coverage
Companies renting vans for business use need commercial auto insurance or HNOA coverage that includes liability and physical damage coverage for rented vehicles.
2. Your Insurance = Primary
Your existing insurance travels with you.
Florida law allows properly drafted rental agreements to designate the renter's own auto or business policy as the primary coverage for the rented vehicle.
Our rental agreement is built around that structure: your policy responds first if there's a covered accident, and any coverage on our side is excess or secondary only.
That's why we only work with fully insured drivers and businesses — it keeps responsibilities clear and avoids surprises.
The benefit to you: No pushy add-on insurance at rental-counter prices. If you already carry solid coverage, you shouldn't have to pay again.
3. What We Need From You
Copy of your driver's license
Must be current, valid, and issued by a U.S. state or territory. International drivers should contact us to discuss options.
Proof of insurance
Personal renters:
Insurance card and proof that you carry comprehensive & collision coverage (not just liability). We need to see that your policy extends to rented or temporary vehicles.
Business renters:
Proof of active commercial auto insurance or HNOA coverage that includes:
- • Liability coverage
- • Physical damage coverage (comprehensive + collision)
- • Coverage extending to rented or hired vehicles
Acceptable proof includes a photo or PDF of your commercial auto insurance card, policy declarations page, or any document clearly showing the business name, active policy dates, liability limits, and physical damage coverage. No COI is required.
If the business does not have commercial auto or HNOA coverage, the rental must be placed under an individual with full-coverage personal auto insurance.
Signed rental agreement confirming:
- •Your insurance is primary
- •You accept responsibility for the vehicle
- •You'll notify us promptly if something happens
Credit card for security deposit
A valid credit card in the primary driver's name. We place a temporary hold for the security deposit, which is released after the van is returned in good condition.
4. What We Don't Provide
We are not an insurance company and we do not sell or provide insurance products.
All renters must bring their own active coverage that meets our minimum requirements. If you're unsure whether your policy covers rented vehicles, we always recommend checking with your agent before you book.
Our model is designed for people and businesses who already have good insurance and want a more transparent, straightforward rental experience.
5. Service Area
We deliver vans within Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties only.
Our mobile delivery service covers South Florida's tri-county area, including all major cities and airports.
